Meet Our Caring Park Terrace at Greenway Team
Park Terrace at Greenway’s beautiful, resort-style community is situated on 17 acres of lush, tropical landscape in North Phoenix, Arizona. Focused on providing quality assisted and independent senior living, Park Terrace is a place where every element of true living comes together in one, harmonious place. And we have our caring, compassionate staff largely to thank for that. If you’re considering moving into our senior community, we encourage you to take a few moments and meet a few key people you’re likely to encounter here.
Originally from Chicago (and a lifetime Cubs fan), Mike attended the University of Arizona where he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems. Mike went on to complete Officer’s Training School and was commissioned in the United States Air Force. While in the Air Force, Mike found himself stationed in Nebraska, Mississippi, the Philippines, Alabama, Arizona and Ohio. During this time, he earned his Master’s degree in Information Resource Management from the Air Force Institute of Technology.
For the past 22 years, Mike has enjoyed his career in the management of senior living communities. Mike says he feels blessed to be able to serve seniors and says the absolute best part of his week is when he leads an activity with his residents. He currently leads one of Park Terrace’s most popular activities – Wednesday afternoon poker!
In his leisure time, Mike enjoys golf, reading and following University of Arizona sports.
Deb was made for marketing! Being the daughter and granddaughter of ministers gave her the desire to emulate the care and compassion they practiced in life. Debora truly enjoys serving seniors and their families and seeing the peace of mind and improved lifestyles that result.
Debora joined Park Terrace in March 2017 and has been responsible for 75% of the growth of our community. Her extensive experience includes her role as the Franchise Development Coach and Corporate Trainer at one of the largest senior referral and placement companies in the U.S. She was instrumental in the growth of the company from 4 to 162 franchises nationwide, ensuring each franchise success from inception and with ongoing support to promote their growth. She also has 10 years’ experience as a long-term care agent and as a volunteer at hospice as a care coordinator, which provided support to terminal patients.
Debora currently holds certifications as a Certified Senior Advisor, Certified Alzheimer’s Caregiver and a National Certified Re-Admission Prevention Specialist and has maintained her Series 6 and 7 licenses.
Originally from Phoenix, Sara is our Energizer Bunny® of the Activities Department. A people person by nature, Sara thrives on interaction with our residents. Every month, they get together and our residents create the activity calendar for the following month. Sara loves her job, saying, “Every day is different, and the seniors are lots of fun.” Our seniors feel the same way. Sara can make whatever is going on interesting and fun!
Sara is an avid crafter, having done crafting for over 20 years. She said she adds a new craft to master every year. There’s no limit to the projects our residents and Sara create. So much so that we built a craft room for her and our residents to enjoy!
Outside activities are also on the agenda. However, the Herberger Theater is a favorite. And then there are the groups that have formed and continue to grow, including poker, bingo, bridge and movies, just to name a few. Activities are where residents meet new friends, have fun and perhaps learn something new. Sara is here to help them do just that!
Chef James is one of those rare people who always knew what he wanted to do from an early age. Originally from Aurora, Colorado, James moved to Phoenix as a teenager. He began his culinary career in 1985, working his way up through the ranks. Through the years, James has prepared casual dining, Japanese cuisine and fine cuisine.
He began working at Park Terrace (then the Embassy Suites Hotel) in the spring of 2007 when the restaurant was still called Lafittes. James was trained by then Chef Roger, who provided training in the finer points of New Orleans cuisine. After the hotel shut down, James went back into training, this time with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and took classes on senior nutrition to ready him for the challenges ahead. James’ menus use no added salt or excess spice, and yet, the flavor is never lost!
James continues to strive to create menus that are tasty and comforting with influences from “blue plate specials” to local favorites. Ask any resident and they’ll tell you they love, love, love the food here!
Assisted Living Manager
Stacy started her health care career as a caregiver in 1998 while attending Gateway Community College where she earned her nursing degree in 2002. Stacy is a practicing LPN that has a multitude of experience having chosen to provide her services in skilled nursing at Grandview Care, hospice at Hospice of Arizona, rehabilitation at Pueblo Norte, and memory care at Freedom Plaza. She has now graced us with her expertise as our Assisted Living Manager at Park Terrace.
Stacy is one of those that will just jump in and do whatever is required. Her caregivers love her for it, her residents love the fact that she runs a smooth operation with everything in order. Families can rest assured with Stacy at the helm.
Stacy has three children; Steven 25, Jeffrey 21 and Amber 16. Both boys chose the Naval Service and Jeffrey is currently stationed in Japan. Steven just became a dad to Caleb, 6 months and grandma couldn’t be prouder! Amber, still at home, attends Cactus High School where she is a Junior.
In her spare time Stacy loves to craft, take road trips, watch movies and spend time with her family and friends. She is also a huge Disney fan!
